It’s no secret that I’ve been battling postpartum anxiety (with a touch of depression). It’s pretty easy for me to only see the big scary monsters of the world. In that vein, today I wanted to talk about some things I’m loving, some things that put a smile on my face and make me feel like the world isn’t so bad after all.
This list is pretty eclectic. But then again, so am I. 🙂
Better Now, Post Malone
As I was mentioning the other day to my blogger friend Jeff Cann, I sometimes live under a rock in terms of pop culture (this subject came about since I had never heard of a film called Crocodile Dundee). Anyway, I am pretty sure Post Malone is some famous dude (band? IDK).
This song, though … absolute eargasm! Holy crap you guys, Better Now is my new go-to song for pretty much everything … writing, running, driving, literally everything.
LGBT Representation in Commercials
It has made me so, so happy and hopeful for humanity to start seeing more and more LGBT representation in commercials. And not in a shoehorned this-is-crucial-to-the-plot way. Just in an it-just-so-happens way.
I first noticed this Capital One commercial. The couple around 15 seconds are what I read to be a biracial queer couple, and I’m loving it.
Then, this past week, I noticed this commercial from AT&T, which features a couple who happen to be gay handing off their kids to a babysitter for the evening.
Now, to be fair, I loathe AT&T for their godawful pricing schemes and veritable monopoly where I live, as I was recently mentioning to my blogger friend Galby68 over at At Least I Have a Friggin Glass. BUT, I loathe them a little bit less for the sole fact that they put this commercial out there that represents families who don’t fit the stereotypical mold. (Shout out to all the other families created through either science or adoption!).
Plastic Straws Going the Way of the Dodo
Two of my favorite companies, Starbucks and Disney, have both pledged to heavily reduce their usage of plastics. I already bring reusable grocery bags everywhere I shop, and I bring my own reusable mug to coffee shops, but I love seeing this become more mainstream.

There’s not really much to say about this one other than … hooray!!!
So, that’s it for the things I’m loving this week. Tell me, what are you loving in the world right now? Is it something tasty? Something that helps others? Something beautiful?
Until next time,
xoxo Charlotte
This is a good idea – during a particularly rough mental health spell during college, one of my teachers took it upon herself to regularly talk to me about things that made her happy and encouraged me to think about the same. It really helped me through those days!

I’ve been making “things I love” lists for years, for that exact reason! Sometimes I just go back to old lists and re-read them and feel a little bit better almost instantly.

What makes me happy is when i feel like i help out with other’s. To know that you helped them through tough times or cheered them up (make them laugh), it puts a big beam on my face.

Those are all beautiful things! Thank you for sharing. ❤
One thing I love right now is Too Faced eyeshadow palettes because they're frickin GORGEOUS. Even if you're not an eyeshadow snob like myself, I guarantee you'll LOVE them!

Thank you so much for reading! Ooh I love Too Faced palettes! I bought one ages ago and made it last far longer than is probably sanitary. I treated myself to a new one last year!

I love that these are largely “simple things”, too. A commercial here or there, straws – or the absence of them.
Well, I’ll tell ya what that it, GRATITUDE, that’s what…and I love it. There’s not enough of that, IMO, so thank you for sharing!
Also, super-duper shout of gratitude back to you for the shout out. I appreciate it, and love our exchanges in the comments. 🥰

I didn’t intentionally set out to only list simple things, but you’re right – they definitely are! Glad you liked the post! I definitely always love reading what you have to say – you are hilarious and have quite a way with words!

Well, I can say with conviction that I’m not loving Post Malone. Musical snobbery and all 😉 I’m also neither here nor there on representation of any minority or niche in anything as I’m extremely passive in that regard. I don’t care what a person is, does, or defines themselves as long as they aren’t a dick.
As regards what I am loving, I’ve recently got back into Tim Minchin. He’s something of a mild man crush. Not to sound like I’m sucking up, but I’m also still really loving that you’re back. It’s just not been the same without you.

Haha I have very eclectic and sometimes bizarre tastes in music. Given that I don’t keep up with much pop culture, I actually have no idea what the general regard for Post Malone is. I had never heard the dude’s name until discovering this song actually. If you were to peruse my iTunes playlists, you’d probably have a good laugh at all the stuff I listen to.
I recall you tweeting about Tim Minchin the other week! I had heard the name but needed to Google him to find out what he does. Is there any music of his in particular that you would recommend?
I am so glad to be back too! It feels really, really good. I’ve missed it so much 🙂

I don’t do pop at all. To be honest, the majority of stuff I listen to is pretty old. Modern music doesn’t really strike my chords.
Wow! There’s a lot of his stuff I’d recommend. He’s very talented and very funny in an intelligent way. I’d actually suggest watching his live show ‘So Fucking Rock’ as that’s my favourite and you get so much in it. I think he’s one of those guys people either love or hate.
Now you’re back, it feels like you never left.
