Weblog Wednesday: Hello 2019!

I cannot believe it is already 2019. I know, I know … everyone says that each new year.

But seriously, how is it 2019?! Without further ago, here’s what went on in my life this past week:

New Year’s Eve was quiet. I did some crocheting, we watched the Times Square ball drop, we clinked glasses and sipped champagne.

This yarn makes me think of mermaids

New Year’s Day was industrious. It was (still) unseasonably warm here, so I went on a nice long run in the sunshine and took Piglet on a walk. Then I spent all afternoon and evening deep cleaning the kitchen, sweeping and mopping the whole house, vacuuming bedrooms, sorting laundry, etc. Can I just say, I LOVE cleaning. (Super sexy and exciting, I know!)

The rest of the work week passed in a blur. Despite being a stay-at-home-mom, I still think of Monday through Friday as the work week. It’s damn hard work caring for him 11 hours straight five days a week. On the weekends my husband is kind enough to let me get a break and have a great deal more “me time.”

Reading Jordan’s favorite book, Dragons Love Tacos

On Friday, Jordan and I got out of the house and met up with my former boss for lunch. I absolutely adore her (and no, she doesn’t read this blog, so I have no incentive to say that), so it was really good to catch up. I miss her and my former workplace dearly. Some days I miss it so much that I regret leaving to be a SAHM. But then I see Jordan smile and remember why I made this choice. Even though Jordan isn’t quite on solids yet, he enjoyed the chance to flirt with a pretty lady!

This weekend, the weather was (still) warm. I had a really awesome long run outdoors, then my dad came to visit me Jordan. He brought me a strawberry macaron too!

Macarons make me happy.

Sunday I was an absolute blob and just recovered from my Saturday run and did next to nothing.

So far this week I’ve been working on craft stuff, but it’s a tad disheartening since my Etsy traffic has dropped significantly now that the holidays are over. If I’m honest, my postpartum anxiety has been getting the better of me lately. I plan to write a post about it soon, to explain what it feels like to me.

One of my favorite mugs!

Tell me, what have you been up to this past week?

Until next time,

xoxo Charlotte

  1. Your week sounds pretty constructive, tbh. Plus, some good balance between Mom time and Me time…that’s considerate of your Hubster!
My week was pretty low-key. I was lucky enough to spend a full day just hanging out and running around town with my ex, who picked up a trip to Portland with a 30 hour layover. So, that was nice!
But reading this blog after his visit reminded me of his job while we were together: chef.
He wanted to learn something new – and I’m usually game where food is concerned – so we took a macaron class together. It was so fun! Totally demystified those tasty little treats and made them approachable in the kitchen versus a bakery novelty…just in case you wanted a fun date night idea!

    • Having only dated people whose cooking skills amount to Hamburger Helper, I’ve always wondered what dating a chef would be like. Do they cook amazing food at home, or feel burned out from cooking at work all day? I envy the macaron class!! That’s definitely on my cooking bucket list. I’ve tried teaching myself how to make them using YouTube tutorials, but I somehow always manage to screw them up at the last step, when you pipe them onto the baking sheet.

I’m glad you got to see your ex on his long layover! I’ve only been to Portland once but absolutely loved it.

      • The Mac class was definitely worth it. Who knew that something as pretty and delicate as a macaron was created by banging the cookie sheet to get the right shape and that chewy texture was protected by a skin that “gets just right if you sit it under an oscillating fan for a few minutes”?
I walked out of the class, into the kitchen store and asked if I could buy a fan. 😂

  2. My week was… anyway, your week sounded great! I love it when babies flirt. It’s really adorable. I’m the kind of guy that babies just stare at for ages and I always make sure to pull funny faces at them. On the odd occasion they actually flirt I just want to take them home and raise them as my own. Weird from a guy who has never been especially broody.
