Showers are such beautiful celebrations of big life events. I’ve had the pleasure of planning a couple of showers before, and last weekend I got to attend a baby shower for a friend of mine who is having a baby boy.
Two of her coworkers graciously organized the event, and everything from the invitations to the decor to the desserts was perfect.
The hostesses rented out a private room in a local restaurant, so we ordered many appetizers to share. The vibe of the event was effortless, casual, and fun, which I loved.
One of the hostesses arranged for some games for us to play. Normally when one thinks of bridal or baby shower games, they have a connotation of being lame, but these were fun! One of the games was ‘what’s on your phone,’ which entailed earning points for having various things on our phone. For example, plus one point for ever song on your phone that has ‘baby’ in the title. I lost the first two games but won a prize in the diaper raffle!
The little prizes that the hostesses put together were so cute: little burlap bags (y’all know I LOVE burlap) filled with lip gloss, hand cream, and nail polish.
And of course, no shower of any kind would be complete without delectable desserts. Instead of a single cake, the hostesses opted to serve an assortment of scrumptious cupcakes.
I chose to munch on the chocolate peanut butter cupcake. Because, peanut butter!
But of course, the highlight of any shower is the celebration of love that is bestowed upon the honoree. The mommy to be glowed gorgeous in her final months of pregnancy, and I cannot wait to meet her new little man.
Tell me, what is your favorite thing about hosting or attending (or being honored by!) a shower?
Until next time,
xoxo Charlotte
Those cakes look really sweet. I have only ever been to one baby shower. They are just getting more popular here now.x

The cakes were delicious! There was a tad too much icing on them, but that was easily scraped off. 🙂

Oh wow, this seems to have been an amazing shower. The games sound like fun and the cakes look delish. I have only organized one bridal shower. The best part for me was seeing my friend’s face when she saw everyone there to surprise her. She was so emotional and the shower ended up being so wonderful.
I have been a guest at all the other showers that I have attended and I also admire the creativity of hostesses.

Aw, that sounds like a very special moment, getting to surprise the bride like that! I’ve only organized a couple of showers; normally I’m just attending. If I’m honest, the desserts are my favorite part 🙂

I haven’t hosted a party for a long time. The last time I did I was probably about 22-23. It was a barbecue and we all got notoriously drunk. Then we continued the party on into the next day where we resumed getting drunk pretty much from waking up. Definitely no party games there and no cupcakes either. Haha.
