Y’all. It’s official. I just signed up (and paid a hefty chunk) for my bucket list race: the 2017 Dublin Marathon.
Eek!!!
Sure, I’ve done three full marathons and eight half marathons at this point, but never before have I been so excited to fork over hundreds of non-refundable dollars. (Side note: If you’re not a runner, you may not be aware that most if not all races are 100% non-refundable and non-transferable. It seriously doesn’t matter how good your excuse is. They just don’t do it.)
Anyway, I am over the moon excited to have Dublin booked. Honestly, over the past five years of running and racing, I’ve gotten to feeling kind of complacent when signing up for a new race. But this, this is special.
Not only is it on my life bucket list, it will be my first marathon outside of the States!
Now, I just need to find the cheapest flight I can….and hunker down on training!
Until next time,
xoxo Charlotte
How exciting!! Congrats!

Wooohoo! Good luck with it 🙂 I don’t know what the temps are like where you live but it’s late Oct so i’d expect it to be getting cold in Dublin by then, so factor that in to your prep! Can’t wait to follow along on your journey!

Congrats! That’s awesome. Take me with you. I don’t want to run, I just want to go to Dublin. But I’ll stand there eating donuts and be some great moral support. 😀 Really, though, that’s super exciting.

Aw well done. It’s really great to have something special to look forward to and a new challenge. It can be scary committing yourself to something financially when there is no back out option but that’s all part of “feel the fear and do it anyway”. One of my favourite sayings.

I don’t think I’ve heard that phrase, but I love it!! And yes, it’s scary but definitely a part of life. I am so looking forward to it, and it is starting to feel real now, no longer simply a far away daydream.
