Believe it or not, but waking up at 2AM to run a marathon in 30 degree weather will leave one feeling slightly tired! Who knew? 🤔
Last night after the race, we relaxed and celebrated at our resort, with pizza, drinks, and gaming at the arcade.
I was super exhausted by the time my head hit the pillow, so it was nice to get a full night’s rest.
When I woke up, I felt truly awful. My hamstrings are unbelievably tight, and both my quads are very tender. The fact that I couldn’t pack my foam roller hasn’t helped matters.
Be that as it may, we got up and headed to brunch at 1900 Park Fare.
After all, no Disney trip is complete without a Mickey waffle!
1900 Park Fare is a character buffet, and today we got to see Piglet, Tigger, Mary Poppins, and Alice.
After that, we hopped on a bus to Animal Kingdom, where we went on a safari, saw It’s Tough to be a Bug, saw Finding Nemo the Musical, and met Rafiki, Pocahontas, and explorer Mickey and Minnie.
As usual, the Kilimanjaro safari was really, really cool. We even got to see Stella, the newest baby elephant born on a Disney wildlife reserve.
Animal Kingdom is just such a beautiful park. The level of detail put into everything amazes me every time I visit it.
Since the last time we visited, they added a conservation education area where you can speak with zoologists and watch workers in a lab testing samples to monitor the animals’ health. Today we got to watch them testing hippo poop for pregnancy (who knew poop contains the pregnancy hormone?!).
It’s been a full and fun day for sure. Tomorrow morning we’re eating brunch and Chef Mickey’s and hitting up Hollywood Studios. At least, that’s the plan for now!
