I did it!!!

You guys. Today was tough. Not even gonna lie. I wanted to quit so badly. My left IT band and hamstring were acting up, and I was nervous and exhausted simultaneously.

But I did it!

It was a really tough mental and physical battle. But thankfully there were some of my favorite characters along the way to cheer me on.

I was freezing my tail off the whole dang way, but I kept pushing through the pain.

Some of the awesome scenery didn’t hurt either!

You guys, I am exhausted and overwhelmed with emotion from completing my 3rd 26.2 mile race. Thank you all so much for the love and encouragement!

      • Thank you so much, Paul! I often have to remind myself to swallow my pride and not let my ego get in the way when I have a race where the clock time is not ideal, but I agree with you, crossing the finish line is an accomplishment in itself. Learning how to deal with setbacks such as leg cramps and not ideal race conditions is a continual learning process for me, one for which I am grateful. That’s one thing I love about long distance running – it’s a fantastic tool for humbling oneself and learning a lot about dealing with adversity.

  1. Well done. I’m noticing that there is a disney photo “stance” — one foot out with the toe raised. I would have never known to do that.
PS- Finishing a race you want to quit is a gift. next time, it will be easier to keep going.

    • Thank you Jeff! You are so right that it is a gift. In a way I feel more proud of races where I wanted to quit than races where I’ve PR’d.

And yes, that is the Disney photo stance! I like to mimic the pose of the characters, and most of the Fab Five (Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Goofy, Pluto) do that stance.

  2. Brilliant. Well done. What an amazing achievement. I love the photo of you with Minnie and Mickey. It’s fantastic that you kept going even when it was really tough. You deserve a rest and a nice treat now.
