Oh man you guys, yesterday was the busiest day I might have ever had at Disney! After I finished yesterday’s post during breakfast, I went on a 12.5 mile run, which was gorgeous. It took me about ten loops around Hourglass Lake, and I loved the scenery.
I snapped this photo while running, so it’s a little blurry, but here’s a beautiful crane I saw on my run.
After my run, Dear Husband and I hit up the food court for lunch, and afterwards we rented a tandem surrey bicycle for a ride around the lake. I think I may go back today and rent a regular bike for a while. I rode a bicycle everywhere when I was in graduate school, and I miss riding.
Having already logged over 15 combined miles of running, walking, and cycling, I was already exhausted by early afternoon. Dear Husband shooed me away to go shopping by myself while he had something mysterious to do regarding my birthday today. As of writing, I still have no idea what he has up his sleeve!
Anyway, while he did whatever birthday related secret thing he had to do, I took a bus to Disney Springs for some sightseeing. Being the Saturday after Black Friday, I really shouldn’t have been shocked at just how packed it was.
I didn’t do any actual shopping, just got a cupcake for myself from Sprinkles cupcake shop. Gotta say, although it looked pretty (I’ll post DSLR photos soon), it was pretty meh as far as cupcakes go. So I actually ditched it after one bite and took the test back for the Mister.
Back at the resort, I took a leisurely stroll around and snapped a lot of good photos on my fancy camera that I can’t wait to share. Dear Husband and I agreed to meet in the dining hall, where we grabbed a quick dinner before heading to the parks for the evening.
We hopped the next bus to EPCOT, which is always one of my favorite parks. We got to meet Baymax from Big Hero 6. He was super fun to meet!! It was adorable, he tried to steal Dear Husband’s Santa hat!
After seeing him, we strolled over to my favorite part of EPCOT, the World Showcase. But not before first getting our picture taken in front of this “goofy” winter topiary. (Get it, Goofy?)
We then continued along to Italy and France, two of my favorite countries of the showcase. Like we love doing on each trip, we stopped by one of the French street side kiosks for a glass of Bordeaux while waiting for the nightly fireworks to begin.
On our way out of the park, we rode Spaceship Earth (the ride inside the big ball) one last time.
By the time we got back to the resort, it was nearing 11 PM, and my Garmin told me I was going on 23 miles because of the 12.5 mile run on top of all the walking. I was dead tired by the time my head hit the pillow, and I slept like a baby last night.
And now, it’s finally my birthday!!!! Yippee!!!! Per usual, Dear Husband is still fast asleep, so I’m having breakfast and blogging. I might go rent that bicycle when I’m done here. Today we’ve got a busy day of Magic Kingdom fun ahead of us.
Until next time,
