Happy Friday, dear readers! Since my post on my consideration of moving to self hosting generated so much awesome conversation from my readers, I wanted to share this page that WordPress.com has published that walks you through moving to self hosting.
You can find the WordPress.com article here. I am not sure how it didn’t pop up in all my initial searches on how to make the switch, but I found this extremely helpful. Most of the literature I had already read was geared towards new bloggers wanting to start their blog as self-hosted, rather than those of us who want to transfer an existing WordPress.com blog.
I love the fact that WordPress.com has offered this handy tutorial on all the steps needed to transition one’s blog successfully to self-hosting. For those who don’t have the time or desire to do it themselves, they even offer to handle it for you for a one time fee of $129. Rather steep, but it does promise a lot of benefits for those who don’t want to get their hands messy. I like programming and getting my hands messy, so I probably won’t opt for this service.
I’ve decided I definitely am making the switch. Now I am just researching which host I’m going to fork over the money to (lol) and how to make the transition as seamless as possible.
