Flash Fiction – Newborn

I  haven’t written any flash fiction in a while, but I wanted to start doing it more. Here’s a quick piece from this morning. Enjoy!

“This gold rattle your uncle gave us must be worth more than our home!” The new dad chuckled, sighing. He beamed down at his baby. “What do you think our son will become?”

Tears of joy still glistening in her eyes, the new mom nuzzled her nose against her newborn’s cheek. “He will be whatever he wants.”

“What shall we name him?”

The baby opened his eyes for the first time, blinking into the light. He sneezed a puff of smoke dotted with small flames.
