This weekend Dear Boyfriend and I attended a Christmas party at a friend’s house, whose halls were festively decked out in crisp winter Pottery Barn splendor! I love wearing black at fancier occasions during the winter, so at the party I chose to wear black on black with mixed metal accents.
The dress is this cute little number by Soprano, a Juniors brand found at Nordy’s and a few other department stores. Unfortunately it appears to be no longer available, but here is a similar one by Alice + Olivia.
The faux snake skin peep toe exposed zipper wedge booties were a treat to myself from Sandro on a New Year’s trip to Paris six years ago, so they’re definitely no longer available. But these and these are some cute similar booties, both at fairly reasonable price points.
The necklaces are both Kendra Scott — the Elisa in turqoise and Rayne in rose quartz. Along with the necklaces, I wore my Tory Burch for Fitbit in rose gold and classic silver Pandora bracelet. Earrings (not quite visible above) are these Tory Burch rose gold hex hoops.
My friend, the hostess, hates mixing metals, but I actually like it! The way I see it, fashion is just like anything else in life — taste in books or music, dietary preferences, whatever. Just do you, even if it’s not “cool.”
Nice dress. Nice ring on that finger too!

Thank you!! That’s been my go to holiday party dress for a couple of years now. And thanks!! I’m planning to blog about the ring and all the awkwardness that wearing it again around our families will entail at Christmas lol. I decided that it’s much healthier and more freeing to not care what other people may think, so even though some of our relatives may be confused or suspicious or excited or whatever about me wearing my engagement ring again, I don’t really care. 🙂
